What is the Neon game?

Neon is a connect-the-pairs puzzle. Each board is a small dark grid holding pairs of matching glowing symbols — two circles, two stars, two bolts, and so on. Drag a line from one symbol to its twin, moving up, down, left, or right one cell at a time. Lines can never cross or share a cell, and the board is only solved when every pair is joined and every cell on the grid is lit by a line. Connect the pairs, fill the grid: that is the whole game.

The rules take seconds to learn, but each board is a genuine routing problem: a lazy straight line between one pair can wall off the corner another pair needs, and an empty cell left behind means the board is not finished. Here you can play a fresh puzzle every day, deal unlimited boards on demand at any size, and work through a 300-puzzle library — all free, in your browser, with no login required.

How to play

  1. Press a symbol. Every line starts on one of the glowing symbols. Press it to take hold of a line in that symbol's color — the timer starts with your first move.
  2. Drag toward its twin. Extend the line up, down, left, or right into neighboring cells until it reaches the matching symbol. Lines may never cross or share a cell.
  3. Reroute when lines collide. Drag back along a line to shorten it, draw through another line to clear it, or tap either symbol of a pair to remove that pair's line and start it over.
  4. Light every cell. The board is solved when every pair is connected and no cell is left dark. If you are stuck, the lightbulb flags a wrong line or shows the next cell to reach.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Neon game?

Neon is a connection puzzle. The board is a small dark grid holding pairs of glowing symbols — two circles, two stars, two bolts, and so on. You draw one line between the two cells of each pair. Lines move up, down, left, or right, one cell at a time, and no two lines may cross or share a cell. The puzzle is solved when every pair is connected and every cell of the grid is lit by a line.

How do you play Neon?

Press one symbol and drag toward its twin through neighboring cells. Lift your finger to pause a line and pick it up again from its end. Drag back along a line to shorten it. Drawing through a cell that another line already uses clears that line so you can reroute it, and tapping either symbol of a pair clears that pair's line completely. When every pair is joined and no cell is left dark, the board is solved.

Is The Neon Game free to play?

Yes. Every puzzle here is completely free, with no app to install and no account required. Play as much as you like in your browser on phone, tablet, or desktop — and if you want to appear on the daily leaderboard, you can optionally sign in.

How is this different from Netflix's Neon?

Netflix's Neon is a daily puzzle inside the Netflix mobile app. This is an independent fan site built around the same solving idea — connect each pair of symbols without crossing lines — with our own original puzzles, an unlimited mode, a numbered library of 300 boards, and a full archive, playable in any browser without an app or membership. We are not affiliated with Netflix.

How hard do the puzzles get?

The daily puzzle follows a weekly ramp: Monday is a 5×5 board with four pairs, Tuesday and Wednesday move to 6×6, Thursday and Friday to 7×7, and the weekend brings the 8×8 boards with seven pairs. The numbered library climbs the same ladder in four bands of 75 puzzles, and unlimited mode lets you pick any size. Small boards teach the logic; large ones make you plan every line before you draw.

What does the hint button do?

The lightbulb checks your lines against the puzzle's one true solution. If a line has gone wrong, the hint flags that line so you can clear it. Otherwise it lights up the next cell one of your lines should reach. Each hint counts toward your finishing rank, so a hint-free solve earns the top title.

Are the puzzles original?

Yes. Every board here is generated by our own puzzle engine and checked by a solver before it is served: each one is proven to have exactly one way to connect every pair while covering every cell. Nothing is copied from Netflix or any other puzzle source.

Does my progress save?

Yes. Your lines, your solving streak, and your best times are saved locally in your browser, so you can leave mid-puzzle and pick the board back up later. Clearing your browser data resets them. If you sign in, your streak and stats also sync to your account so they follow you across devices.

A daily habit worth keeping

Connection puzzles like Neon reward a minute of quiet thinking: the grid is small enough to hold in your head, yet every line you draw changes what the other pairs can do. Solvers who play daily quickly develop an eye for the shape of a board — which pair has to hug the wall, which corner must be swallowed by the nearest line, and when a symbol's position forces the whole route. The daily board climbs a weekly ladder from a gentle 5×5 to a dense 8×8, so the difficulty always fits the day.

Everything on this site runs in the browser: no app store, no download, no account. Your progress, streak, and best times live in your own device's storage, and every board — daily, unlimited, or library — is generated with a verified single solution, so every puzzle is always solvable and there is exactly one way to light the whole grid.
